Charitable giving has been a main focus for members of Lakeside Quilters’ Guild for many, many years. Our members give back by combining the love of quilting with service to our communities. Our commitment is to keep quilted items local as much as possible and fulfill emergency needs whenever they arise.
Examples of common donated items include, but not limited to:
Lap and Twin size quilts
Cat and dog beds
Isolette nicu covers
Scent bonding hearts for nicu babies and more
We have also made and donated 100’s of children’s pillow cases to local emergency rooms and urgent care centers.
Some of the local organizations we have supported over the years are:
Two local hospitals
A regional children’s hospital
Nursing homes
Animal shelters
Sleep in Heavenly Peace
A local domestic abuse shelter
and other non-profit organizations
Open Sew days are scheduled on a Saturday each month September through May. These days allow us to work on charitable quilting projects while sharing time together and learning from each other.
Charity quilt sizes: lap quilts 45"x60", twin quilts 65"x85", baby quilts 38ish"x45ish"
We are always short on quilts with less pink/purple (girl/feminine trending) and more blue, white, yellow, green colors (boy/masculine trending) but all quilts donated will be used!
If you are aware of someone in need, please let us know. And, if you or someone you know would like to donate a quilt, fabric, thread, batting, or graciously provide a monetary donation, please contact Lynn Mozingo, our Charitable Giving Coordinator, at LynnMozingo@gmail.com or call her at (920) 428-6947.
Most donated items are machine quilted and have a label attached.
