LPJC - Neve Shalom

Welcome to our Progressive Jewish home in Leicester, a warm and welcoming community for Jews of all backgrounds

Our community name, Neve Shalom, means oasis of peace and is a tribute to the village near Jerusalem known as Neve Shalom/Wahat al Salam in which Jewish and Palestinian-Arab citizens of Israel live together to create harmony and diversity. The life of that village is a constant source of inspiration and a beacon of hope for peace.

Elul - the twelfth month in the Jewish calendar - brings our High Holidays - Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and with it our Kol Nidrei Appeal, designed to set a tone of tzedakah and remind us all of our obligation to use our material resources for Tikkun Olam – to constructively ‘repair’ the world.

As with previous years we divide the donations three ways - to two charities – one in Israel and one local to Leicester – as well as to help support our own synagogue, Neve Shalom. Our choice of charities reflects our ongoing wish to support organisations in Israel that work to bring Israelis and Palestinians together for a positive future, and to support local charities that have a strong resonance for our members.

Service times:

Erev Shabbat - Fridays at 8pm

Shabbat Morning - Saturdays at 11am

We do not always have weekly services on both days.

For security and safeguarding reasons, all guests are asked to contact the synagogue before attending. Please email us: secretary@lpjc.org.uk

The synagogue is in a conservation area of Leicester and can be found at 24 Avenue Road, Leicester, LE2 3EA. It is situated within easy access of the railway station, the A6 and M1.

The synagogue is fully accessible to disabled persons; there is on street parking with no restrictions and seats for around 60 people.
