Each year the PTA sponsors a variety of events to develop a link between our school and community. The PTA may have one school-wide fundraiser involving students. Some schools sell items and candy from a catalog to fund these events; however, here at LPAS, we have decided to do something to keep kids physically active by having our annual Turkey Trot. It looks a little different this year, though, with more opportunities for adults to be involved.

The Virtual Turkey Trot will happen anytime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 30. Lincoln students will have the opportunity to walk/run a little over a mile (3k) through the community to promote health and wellness and to support our school. Students are encouraged to get donations and sponsors for their run, with prizes given at different benchmark levels.

We also invite adults to participate in this year's virtual event by signing up and walking or running the 3.11 miles (5K). Adults who sign up will not only support our school but receive a one-of-a-kind race medal. Any adult who wants to sign up can do so as a Friend of LPAS through Nov. 20.

This fundraiser is critical to our PTA and school now more than ever. We would love to have every student participate. Our school goal for the event is $20,000.00. Participation from both students and families will enable us to reach our goal. ALL money collected will go directly to student programs, upgrades to our Black box theater, and repairs to our older playground. Please help your child pick a personal goal and support his/her efforts in finding sponsorship for his/her walk-a-thon goal. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers. All students who raise up to $10 will receive a special race medal to commemorate this unusual and unique event.

If you own a business or know of any business that might like to join our campaign, please contact our PTA by emailing LPASptaLOU@gmail.com. LPAS is a 501C tax-exempt organization. All charitable donations are tax-deductible.

Our traditional LPAS Turkey Trot T-shirts will not be available this year, but we have plans later in the year for a T-shirt contest.

Random LPAS PTA fact of the day: Did you know that the LPAS PTA’s board meetings are open for observation to all? In the board meetings we discuss things like the PTA Budget (aka what we do with our community’s donation money), event planning (see what kind of planning committee YOU could be on), and much more! They take place every 2nd Thursday of every month of the school year at 4pm in the library. If any of our members have an item that they would like to put on our agenda, please email our secretary, Shannon at shannon.seidt@gmail.com. Thank you! Your PTA Prez, Elizabeth Reiss ❤️
