He would have been 10 today.
It is with a broken heart to say that my dear Andy passed away on August 1st due to a tumor in his heart.
People always asked me what kind of dog he was to which I only found out through Reddit: a Wheaton Husky Terrier. One of the most noble kind of dogs. I know for a fact there isn’t any other friend like him in the known universe, he is one of the most unique creatures that ever roamed this earth and I was lucky enough to share my life with him.
My day to day routine this month has been so odd. It feels like I slipped into a parallel universe each morning that doesn’t have its usual warm welcome. I’m having trouble following conversations. I am left with roaming this new reality in a daze. He was always next to me when I was making art, eating, sleeping etc.
What my mom said when she got back from Mexico and saw my new studio is what really got to me. She said, “Maybe Andy saw how you were changing and thought you were ready for him to go.” I was never going to be ready, but I’m glad he still got to see me improve physically and mentally this past year.
Now I’m in a position to celebrate his legacy.
Andy saved my life. He succeeded in his job and now it’s my turn to do so. He’s going to live within me from now on and see the chaotic beauty of humanity. The longest time we ever spent apart was two days. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here making art for you guys. I owe him my life.
I miss you Buddy.
