It will be about 60 days before the pool is back to normal, but major appearance, operational, and aesthetic upgrades will make it better than ever for many more years.
Pool Closes Feb. 15 to Begin Pool Repairs
Jan. 20, 2025 - The Los Lagos Vistas pool will close Feb. 15 to begin major refurbishment after the HOA received its building permit from the city Monday, Jan. 20. The permit kicks off a project that removes and replaces existing tile and pool lining, repairs skimmers, and upgrades cool decking.
The pool will be closed for approximately 30 days to complete the work and refill the pool. The pool won’t be heated for an additional 30 days to allow materials and chemicals to cure.
The work includes installing StoneScapes mini pebble finish with added glass for color, removing and chipping out old plaster and removing debris from the site. All five pool skimmers will be replaced with new code compliant skimmers. Skimmers will be tied into existing side plumbing and leveled with the pool deck.
The main pool drain will be split and a new drain cover installed for safety. The new cover prevents entrapment of children and meets new federal laws on drain safety.
The HOA Board approved the $47,000 project with Horizon Custom Pools to enhance water quality and pool safety. In recent years, surprise algae blooms revealed that despite best efforts to kill off and prevent blooms, recurrences became more frequent. The pool remodel should stabilize water quality and eliminate such blooms.
The HOA Board in the past has approved special treatments and pool repairs, but after 40 years of use the pool needed to be updated. The Board agreed that the investment would be a community benefit many years into the future.
Events at the pool will continue in the patio area.
