GUIDELINES FOR DEVELOPING TEAM COHESION - There is a solution in response to barriers in team cohesion. These are the guidelines that Sugarman (1998) suggested for developing team cohesion.
TEAM COHESION: ANTECEDENTS AND CONSEQUENCES
Carron suggested a framework that includes antecedents and consequences of team cohesiveness.
Team cohesion is the process that keeps a group united in achieving its goals and maintaining positive relationships all the members of the team. And there is five important aspects being multi-dimensional, dynamic, instrumental, affective, and complex. Cohesion helps teams work together by combining motivation, social interactions, and shared beliefs and conception. And it has also involves group integration, where all members feel part of the team, and individual attraction, which connects personal beliefs to the team’s success. Several factors influence team cohesion, including team satisfaction, conformity, stability, shared goals, and commitment to teamwork. Coaches and leaders play a role in building strong team relationships. And the barriers such as personality conflicts, poor communication, and disagreements can weaken cohesion. and to solve these issues, teams need mutual respect, clear communication, and a sense of importance among the team members. Active practice and teamwork are important as a team. Good leadership is necessary for team cohesion. Leaders should focus on training, allowing team members to participate in decisions, and providing positive support. They should also balance authority with care for the athletes' well-being. When a team is cohesive, it leads to better performance, motivation, and a positive environment for all the team members.
Team cohesion is very important in sports and other group activities. It helps team members stay united and work towards a common goal. And that cohesion is influenced by different factors, such as motivation, social interactions, and shared goals. When a team has strong cohesion, the members feel more connected and motivated to support each other. There are also challenges that can affect team cohesion, such as personality clashes, poor communication, or disagreements. If these problems are not solved, they can break the unity of the team. And there are ways to improve cohesion, just like showing respect to the others or the opponent, having good communication, and making sure every team member feels important because the leaders and coaches are play a big role in making the team work well together. team cohesion is important for success. It creates a positive impact where everyone feels valued and motivated. This lesson taught me that teamwork is not just about skills but also about trust and cooperation and also the discipline on the members it is in sports or other group activities, try to communicate better and support the teammates to build a stronger team.
