Fundraising Details:
Students will have 3 weeks leading up to the event to raise funds from family, friends, and neighbors to support the Longfellow PTO. The goal for the event is to raise $16,000, and if every student gets support from 1-10 sponsors with total gifts ranging from $5 - $100, we together can reach the goal. Donations can be made with cash, check, or online.
Note that sponsorships are not on a per lap basis, it’s a simple “flat fee” sponsorship in any amount.
These funds will be used to support curriculum enrichment, school supplies, and much more - benefitting every student at Longfellow school.
A portion of the funds raised from Laps for Longfellow will be donated to the Foundation for Portland Public Schools to support all students in Portland Public Schools.
Event Details:
In the weeks leading up to the event, students will be practicing running/walking laps in PE class with Mr. Simon.
On the day of the event, every student will have the opportunity to complete as many laps as possible in 20-30 minutes. Families and caretakers - please come and cheer students on! You are welcome to create and bring signs to cheer students.
Awards will be given to the class in each grade with: a) The most laps, and b) The most school spirit and honor. Examples would be wearing items that are green, yellow, and pink or related to the theme of SOARING: USING YOUR MIND AND BODY TO BE YOUR BEST SELF, participating fairly and helping others.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PART IN MAKING LAPS FOR LONGFELLOW A SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING EVENT.
