More Thoughts: Dead Poet’s Society is a fantastic coming of age tale mainly dealing with the themes of passion vs. societal pressure and creativity vs. uniformity. It is a very well crafted story that hopefully made a difference in some lives with its preaching of throwing away the bonds of societal expectation and pursuing what you truly want to do. The ending is bleak but very powerful.

More Thoughts: Wicked was a very interesting take on the classic tale exploring themes of racism, obsessive societal conformity vs forced societal ostracism, the dangers of trusting authority, how public perception can often differ greatly from reality, ableism, survivor’s guilt, environmental conservation, and animal cruelty “for the greater good.” I was not expecting such depth and the references to the original movie were great, so it was very pleasantly surprising. Although there also was quite a bit of whiplash from part 1 to 2 with it seemingly going from 1 to 300 very quickly both with action and with the bleakness of the story/mostly all elements.
