The Old Lochman School Museum occupies the building that served as our community's schoolhouse from its construction in the early 1900s until 1954, when declining enrollment and state consolidation policies led to the relocation of local students to Blanco schools. Rather than let the building sit empty, the community decided to preserve it as a repository for Lochman's history and the stories of the families who built this place.
Second Lochman School as it would have appeared in the early 1900s

The museum operates entirely through volunteer efforts and community donations. Everything here was contributed by families who understood that preserving these memories matters, even in a small place that most people drive through without stopping.
The museum is staffed by volunteers and may occasionally be closed for special events or when everyone's helping with harvest.
