For nearly 40 years School Improvement Councils have been, by South Carolina law, directly involved in the school improvement planning process and helping to carry out and evaluate the outcomes of such plans. SICs must also report to the school’s parents and the community how the school is progressing toward its improvement goals. An effective SIC works closely with school staff (and indeed all stakeholders) to provide real-world solutions so that students are better prepared to come to school, are challenged and supported while in school, and leave school better equipped for the next phase of their education.
Our council is comprised of 4 elected parent representatives, two elected teacher representatives (past and present Teacher's of The Year), three appointed community members, and two ex officio seats including the school principal. If you are interested in serving as a community member, please reach out to Mrs. Clamp or the current Chair. The current members are:

Elections will take place in August of that current school year. Look for nominations to be asked for in the school principal's weekly newsletter that goes out via Parent Square. There is a deadline for nominations and elections take place the following week. Elections are held by August 30th each year. The new board will start meeting the following month in September, and will meet for approximately 8 times throughout the year. Parent and Teacher seats are elected for 2 year terms. Community members are appointed and they can serve one school year at a time.
