Q: Are 4th Year Scouts and Senior Pathfinders allowed to attend?
A: Yes! Due to changes in Scouts Canada, Scouts now goes until the age 14, which is our age cut-off for this event. We have decided to allow 4th Year Scouts (who are age 14 before the end of camp) to attend camp so they may get a taste of a Venturer/Rover event. If your group has a scout section and any of the youth meet the criteria, please invite them. As per Pathfinders, as long as they are 14 as well, they may attend as well!
Q: Can we book cabins?
Camp Nemo does have cabins on site, but staff have only booked the Confederation and Apple Day Lodges for staff and event purposes. If groups would like to book a cabin, they have to do so on their own. To book you may use Scouts Canada’s Double Knot Booking System for Camp Nemo. The cabins are first come first serve and staff is not involved in the booking process. If you would like to split cabins with other groups, you are responsible for that, but we can put blasters out on our social media if you ask nicely!
Q: Are Venturers allowed to attend without an advisor?
A: As per BP&P, the presence of a Scouter is not mandatory, but we as per our own policy we will ask for two pieces of documentation to ensure that Group Commissioners, the section Scouters and all parents are aware that youth will be attending without an adult present. (1) We will ask for a copy of the Adventure Application Form (previously the Activity Form), signed by both a Section Scouter and the Group Commissioner. (2) All youth must have a Cat-3 form filled out and signed by their parents. If there is a 4th Year Scout present, an adult needs to be at camp, if there isn't an adult available, contact us prior to camp and we can try to organize for your group to pair up with another with a scouter present.
Q: Will water will available on site?
A: While it never hurts to be prepared, there is an outside tap on the lodge that participants are welcome to use throughout the weekend.
Q: What is the cost if a youth or group is not able to attend for the whole weekend?
A: We generally handle these on a case-by-case basis, please reach out to staff, but the general rule is $20.00 for just Saturday, or $10.00 for the Saturday night social/dance.
Q: If a youth who has pre-registered does not end up attending, do we still have to pay for his registration.
A: No, we will either subtract their numbers from the total, or reimburse the group if they have pre-paid.
