Bill Hutchins deploys the electronics and materials to minimize noise and ALL sources of distortion in audiophile circuitry. It's not about price points, but amplifying all of the information from LPs and analog sources with neither contaminating nor mistiming their signals.
Initial designs are housed in unadorned, conventional chassis, used by engineers world-wide. Advanced Veros products receive casework fitting an elegant environment; such as 6 mm (1/4 inch) thick front panels and smooth, precision-fitted shells.
The 2-SB phono pre-amplifier (aka phono stage) was Bill's original product design and remains the LKV's best seller. It embodies Bill's design approaches: class A, zero-feedback, short-signal path, differential (balanced) circuits using matched components where necessary, dual-mono topology to minimize crosstalk, and both XLR balanced and RCA single-ended connectors for listener choice.
The Line One control pre-amplifier follows the exact same criteria as the 2-SB. It focuses only on instrument-grade electronic design for sound integrity.
The Veros One phono stage uses a more advanced implementation of the 2-SB AZF circuit. Also, the Veros One includes an optional 2 db boost for lower frequencies. This "Contour" is added to precise RIAA circuitry and is selected by the two knobs on the Veros One's front panel. The casework includes a 6 mm (1/4 inch) brushed aluminum front panel and an attractive housing. By attractive, we mean that a covivant should readily approve adding the Veros to your home.
Only after the 2-SB was designed, could the Veros One be contemplated. Veros-class components compete or hold their own with all audiophile products. In other words, the Veros One may be the finest phono stage in the world, and it's certainly the best when its moderate price is considered. Similarly, the Veros PWR could only be designed after the Veros One, the Line One, and the Verito-1 were built. A thorough knowledge of Bruno Putzeys' Class D output amplifiers for controlling speakers combined with years of experience in modifying the AZF circuit were required to mate Class A and Class D at such a high level. Like the Veros One, the Veros PWR ranks with the leading audiophile amplifiers regardless of price.
The most critical aspect of LKV designs is the AZF circuit: a class A, zero-feedback, short-signal path, differential (balanced) circuit using matched components where necessary. The Verito-1 combines the AZF circuits of the Veros One and Line One, but dispenses with dual-mono topology and XLR connectors. Only RCA single-ended connectors are included. While seemingly basic, the Verito-1 shines as the lowest-cost, yet exceptional, integrated amplifier for people who listen to LPs frequently and want to use either moving magnet or high quality moving coil cartridges with exceptional resolution.
