Twardowski, the Polish Faust

The legend of Sir Twardowski ("Pan Twardowski" in Polish, pronounced "Tfardofski") is famous throughout Poland, and there are many variations. Sometimes the Devil catches up with Twardowski in a tavern called "Rzym" (Rome), and so you will find taverns named "Rzym" in Poland today, as in the image above. In the version of the story that you will read below, Twardowski goes to even more epic lengths to avoid meeting up with the Devil. You can find out more at Wikipedia.

The story is also 1700 words long, so it will take about 8 or 9 minutes to read, or about 15 minutes if you read out loud.
