Artchila Murtchila. In this Basque story, an old soldier uses a magical gift from Jesus Christ himself to trick the Devil.
The Drunkard's Son. In this story from Russia, the drunkard's son does the Devil a favor, and so the devil repays him kindly.
The Three Apprentices. The Devil makes use of three willing apprentices, and rewards them appropriately, in this story from the Brothers Grimm.
How the Devil Married Three Sisters. This is an Italian story about three sisters who marry the Devil: two of them are foolish, and one is wise.
The Evil One and Kitta Grau. This Swedish story shows the Devil bested by a woman named Kitta Grau.
The Devil's Bridge at Mynach Falls. In this Welsh story the Devil is once again bested by a woman.
The Legend of the Unfinished Palace. This is a legend from Renaissance Florence about a rich young man who makes a bargain with the Devil for the building of a palace.
