This scholarship program recognizes and encourages the academic achievements of the students within our service territory by helping defray the costs of furthering their education.
Each year, Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative donates $1,000 to each of the high schools in our service territory with a Dollars for Scholars Chapter or an individual Scholarship Association. This scholarship must be awarded to a qualifying dependent of an active Dakota Valley Electric member.
Applicants for the scholarship must be high school seniors enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school.
Scholarship recipients will be chosen by the local chapter.
A letter will be sent to area high schools in January of each year, announcing the program. Call us at 1-800-342-4671 for more details.
This scholarship rewards college students for taking dual-credit coursework as a high school student. To qualify, students must meet the eligibility criteria, complete an application with the ND University System (NDUS), and provide all supporting documentation. The NDUS will award the Dual-Credit Tuition Scholarship throughout the academic year. The one-time scholarship award amounts are $250 for one dual credit class, $500 for two dual credit classes, and $750 for 3+ dual credit classes. The maximum payment is $750, and will be limited to the cost of tuition and fees for the semester, quarter or term the scholarship applies. This scholarship may be used for post-secondary enrollment at any ND state public, private, tribal or proprietary institution. Payments will generally be issued to the student’s institution the following semester, quarter, or term enrolled after application.
The North Dakota Scholarship aims to align scholarship requirements to the Choice Ready initiative. One thing to keep in mind is that the requirements will align to Choice Ready, but are more rigorous than what is required for Choice Ready. The North Dakota Scholarship is worth $6,000 and can be used at approved colleges, universities, professional schools, and registered apprenticeship programs in North Dakota.
The North Dakota Scholarship has several components. The first component is the essential skills. All students must fulfill the requirements of the essential skills in order to be eligible for the scholarship. The next three components are Post-Secondary Ready, Workforce Ready, and Military. Students must meet 2 of those 3 components to be eligible. Any student that meets the essential skill requirements, as well as 2 of the 3 (Post-Secondary Ready, Workforce Ready, and Military Ready) components, qualifies for the North Dakota Scholarship. Please see the North Dakota Scholarship Framework for specific details on the requirements of each component of the North Dakota Scholarship Requirements.
To verify indicators for the North Dakota scholarship:
Public schools need to ensure that the correct indicators are marked when they complete the Choice Ready report for each student. The due date for schools to complete the Choice Ready report is June 30. Any indicator that is not marked in the Choice Ready report will not be allowed to be used to meet scholarship eligibility criteria!
