Sample schedule template for a Team working on all cylinders:
Team members work alone or with partners on particular tasks.
A weekly Zoom or Google Meet (20-40 minutes) is offered to build relationships, check progress, and coordinate Team efforts
A monthly in-person meeting (60 minutes, in lieu of the weekly Zoom) is offered at various sites in the County, open to the public.
Quarterly the monthly meeting will include a public presentation preceded or followed by business agenda (90 minutes total)
In addition to the monthly, in person meetings, team members will build their relationships by zoom meetings, email, interaction on the website and personal communication. Priority is given relationships out of which collaborative tasks will emerge.
"All meaningful knowledge is for the sake of action, and all meaningful action for the sake of friendship."
On the homepage FORM, or by Form at bottom of page, or by email llibcwi@gmail.com tell the Team your interest in joining the Team and what experience and skills you can offer. Someone will call you and invite you to the next Team meeting.
When Covid isolated us in our homes new forms of social interaction emerged online. I joined dozens of discussions and groups on Zoom. I found companions from California to New England, Australia to Germany.
I wondered what is the local potential to connect with each other in person? I envision dozens of persons who affiliate to be intentional about our reading habits and social interactions.
A project Team will invest time and talent to create means for our connections.
The motto: "Create, Connect, Collaborate" has been used by Create Portage County.
The creative act of reading puts us in dialogue with the thoughts and feelings of a writer. In Portage County we want to connect across the spectrum of our assets: city/rural, town/gown, political, economic, and religious diversity. By exchanging our reading insights we collaborate to build community as we value diversity, openness, listening, youth, and civic engagement.
The IDEA Center provides space and encouragement for new social interactions and creativity (1300 Maria Dr., Suite B, Stevens Point).
