AbstractA longstanding focus of diverse economies thinking has been on how we live ‘well’ in the Anthropocene, and on identifying and cultivating places and projects in which these conversations take place. In particular, JK Gibson-Graham and Jenny Cameron carried out pioneering work in the Pioneer and Latrobe valleys linking diverse economies thinking to Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD).
The JUST Centre for Joined-up Sustainability Transformations is a 5-year Research Centre exploring how the transition to net zero in the North of England can be joined up with social justice. The Centre brings together five universities looking at five places: Liverpool University looking at Merseyside; Manchester looking at Greater Manchester; Leeds looking at West Yorkshire; Lancaster looking at west Cumbria; and Newcastle looking at Tyneside. We have five research themes: built and social Infrastructures, democratic innovations, methodological innovations, policy, governance and change, principles of justice, and social and solidarity economies.
In this session, JUST Centre colleagues from a mix of our case study places and themes would like a free flowing conversation with likeminded CEI and CERN colleagues who would be interested in a dialogue to share experiences, agendas and perspectives about just climate futures in the current conjuncture.
