As a child-driven camp, we ensure our campers are given
a wide variety of opportunities and materials to play and explore with.
Every day, there are chances for campers to choose their activities. These choices include: swimming, crafts, field games, team building activities, community involvement, climbing trees, gardening, cooking, natural building, learning survival skills, and so much more.
A session at Rising Hawk can become whatever they desire to make of it!
A day in the life...
Before care and after care are provided at no extra cost. The camp day itself runs 7:30am - 5:30pm. To be able to participate in activities children must arrive before 9:00am. Below is an approximate look at our day, field trips, community activities, and daily changes will undoubtedly occur.
Rising Hawk Schedule
A taste of the fun!
Take a peak at some of our activities over the years.
It's amazing where a child's wonder will take them in the woods!
Low Ropes Course
Located deep in the Live and Learn forest is a low ropes course for our campers to explore.
Story Telling
Papa Joe, our local story teller, visits with our campers weekly to share some magic.
Fort Building
On a hot summer day, we will spend time working in the shade of the woods to build structures that protect us from the elements.
Gardening
Campers have daily opportunities to tend the Rising Hawk gardens around campus.
Bike Days
We invite our campers to pack their bikes for a day to race around the dirt trails on property.
Free Play/Unstructured Time
During free play, children are welcome in Fairy House Village. They can make mud-tacular creations with friends, and let their imaginations wander!
Facilities
Here at Rising Hawk, we spend every available minute in the outdoors, though our facilities on property keep us endlessly captivated and busy! Camp Rising Hawk's facilities include: tree house, low ropes course, miles of wooded trails, sports field, vegetable gardens and flower gardens, pool, large tented area with stage, natural building area, outdoor theater, climbing trees, biking trails, digging exploration area, skateboard swing, mud pit, and hammocks for relaxing. Take a look at some of these locations below.
Climbing Trees
We have two available climbing trees right by our camp tents that have been designated as safe and secure for climbing.
Trail Systems
Located in the back of our property are miles of walking trails to explore.
Pool
Rising Hawk campers will have access to the in-ground pool daily.
Fairy House Village
This space is covered with vines and trees, creating a beautiful thicket. We like to call it Fairy House Village. This is a magical space for children to work together and let their imaginations run wild.
Rock Area
Located underneath a great Hickory tree is the rock area, which is home to large climbing boulders, spider web and outdoor stage.
Spider Web
Want to relax with friends but can't find a hammock large enough? Look no further than the spider web! A great place to watch the clouds roll by together.
Past Field Trips
Rising Hawk Campers will be able to attend about 1 field trip per session or 3 to 4 field trips per summer. The locations of the trips are determined by the interests of the children and families.
We look forward to taking more field trips this summer with everyone!
Hiking
Each Group of campers is taken on a hiking trip that is appropriate for their age group. We use these opportunities to explore natural habitats surrounding our area and to bond with our pod members.
Odiorne Point State Park
Campers had the opportunity to explore the rocks and tide pools, learn about wild life, and wade in the water on a full day field trip to Odiorne Point State Park.
Berry picking
Our youngest campers found their way to Butternut Farm, where they were able to pick fresh berries to bring back to camp and share with our Rising Hawk community.
Sea Kayaking
The oldest group of campers got to face the open seas at Seven Rivers Paddling. Along with kayaking, they played team building games, jumped off rocks into the water, and ate lunch on the islands of Great Bay.
