Struggling readers require interventions with intensive, explicit instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, fluent reading, comprehension, or vocabulary (Bratsch-Hines et al., 2017). Once teachers understand the the needs of their students, they are required to make decisions on which intervention will best support their struggling readers (Paige et al., 2021).
