Warm-up: Review skills from previous sessions
Affix Instruction: teach new prefix or suffix, students document new learning in a notebook
Word Play: play games that combine new affix with base words (matching, memory, etc.)
Read: Student circles affixes, reads the affix, reads the word, & reads all the the words
Write: Students think of and write multisyllabic words with the new affix
Connected Text: Student reads a passage containing the affix multiple times
