Project Description & Rationale
Teaching religion can be a rewarding ministry in supporting students on their spiritual journey, inviting them to reflect on their relationship with God, self, and others. There are many opportunities to learn about, and work towards, a compassionate and just world, "building the reign and kingdom of God." This kind of learning requires critical thinking and examination of who is marginalized, why they are marginalized, and self-reflection. It also involves being open, and actively listening to, the diverse perspectives and lived experiences of others. This can be done through the facilitation of courageous conversations and engaging students in meaningful collaborative learning.
Listening With the Heart offers resources on how to build a safe and inclusive space through mindfulness and Christian meditation, in order to promote the above learning.
