Welcome to Listening with the Heart, a writing project that was developed to help educators build safe and inclusive classrooms through mindfulness and Christian meditation. The practice of mindfulness and meditation has been shown to improve problem-solving, stress management and coping skills, increase concentration, and promote mental health and wellbeing -- all helpful in addressing the many challenges faced today.

The learning activities are designed primarily for Grades 7 to 12 classes in Religion & Family Life, however, they can also be used in other subject areas (e.g. Social Sciences, Health & Physical Education, etc.).

Each lesson invites students to make meaningful connections to their faith through Scripture, the sacraments, liturgical year, as well as Catholic Church teaching and/or role-models. Finally, the material included was developed with an anti-oppression lens and reflects culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy.
