I bring in live cuttings of plants or use plants in the school yard or greenhouse to teach students key identifying features about plants. I select plants that are on our National Plant List for certification as an apprenticeship, native plants and of course what is in bloom. I am developing games such as 'guess that plant' and plant flash cards to help students with plant ID quizzes done through google forms using live specimens or photos.

Students each select a plant during a plant inventory or plant walk around school grounds in a greenhouse and create a plant profile for it. Similar to a Facebook profile but for plants!

Students select plants from different plant groups that they would like to use in their landscape design to create a plant pallet. We look at size, shape, texture, bloom periods and growing requirements when making selections.
