The Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) trains future faculty in the best methods for teaching diverse student audiences. The focus of CIRTL includes Teaching-as-Research, Learning Communities, and Diversity through Learning.
Current course requirements for the CIRTL Practitioner Certificate are Teaching at the College Level, Developing a Teaching Portfolio, Seminar in Learning, Teaching Methods, and Teaching Practicum. Elective courses are Presentation and Discussion Skills, Presenting Effectively, Writing Successfully, Mentoring 101, Introduction to Mentoring & Leadership, Writing & Reviewing Research, Professional Writing & Publishing, Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks, Developing and Managing Your Professional Image, Managing & Leading Teams, Communication and Diversity Leadership, Navigating the Job Market, Improvisational Techniques to Improve Leadership, Teaching, and Research Communication, Advanced Evidence-based Teaching, and Introduction to Online Teaching. The total number of hours required for the CIRTL Practitioner Certificate is 16.
