Lisa H Antoine - Experience

My teaching experience is very diverse and includes elementary, middle school, high school, community college, and undergraduate students. During the school term 2013-2014 I was the coordinator and instructor for the environmental health program (weekly afterschool program) for grades 3 to 6. During the school term 2016-2017 I was an instructor with the UAB Entrepreneurship & Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (E-STEM) enrichment program for middle and high school students in Birmingham, Alabama, where the mission of the program was to expose underserved, underrepresented mostly black students to hands-on STEM experiences and basic knowledge about business development and entrepreneurship. In 2022 I began the development of an Anatomy course for community college students. During 2022 and 2023 I completed the development of and taught a community college Engineering Orientation course. During the 2023-2024 term I taught Honors Thesis Proposal Preparation and Honors Thesis Preparation courses to undergraduate students.

In collaboration with the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health Environmental Health Sciences Department, I implemented an environmental education afterschool program to engage elementary and middle school students to learn more about their environment. The school is in proximity to an Environmental Protection Agency superfund area because of air, soil, and water pollutants from coke plant emissions. This program included neighborhood walks, an outdoor art project, an ice cream activity, a water filtration activity, and a health screening.

As an IRACDA-MERIT Postdoctoral Scholar I began development of an Anatomy 101 course for community college students. Click on the links below for the course map, syllabus, and class demonstration lecture.
