This summer, I had a chance to join a summer camp that went through three amazing cities, namely San Diego, Los Angeles, and Honolulu. During the trip, I visited many amusement parks and attractions, all of which were extremely enjoyable and somehow seemed to be very meaningful to me. Thus, it's hard to answer if someone asks for my top favorite spot. Although I have a big love for theme parks that are full of adorable cartoon characters and crazy rides, such as Universal and Knott's Berry Farm. However, I'll go with Warner Bros. Studio Tour since it is not simply an attraction but also offers visitors a chance to glimpse behind the scenes of one of the oldest film studios in the world.
At first, Warner Bros. Studio Tour didn't seem to be anything special to me. Nonetheless, as I arrived at its building, I couldn't help myself from the feeling of excitement when I first saw a massive poster of my favorite TV show - Friends. Subsequently, my camp went inside the building and there were a bunch of movie posters everywhere where we were waiting for the short introductory film. My favorite one definitely was the poster of Friends. It was so funny that the moment my teacher (Ms.K) saw the poster, she suddenly called me out to take a photo. Thanks a lot, Ms.K!
Moreover, one of my favorite parts of the tour was the sound stage and back lot area of American movies and TV series. Our camp was guided by a lovely and friendly tour guide. She provided us with so many informative things, such as describing how the film crew sets up scenes in houses and revealing that all furniture and decorations are bought by the film crew, and they have to return everything in the house back to its original state after finishing filming. Although I didn't know a lot of movies that were introduced here, I did enjoy the tour and learned more about the American filmmaking process. One more thing I have to tell you guys is that the houses, theaters, restaurants, schools, and parks impressively looked nothing different from real-life scenes. You can even picture it as a miniature city from a far distance. Most importantly, I had an opportunity to sit on a sofa that appeared on Friends: The Reunion. I had so much fun snapping pictures with the sofa, although it's not the exact one from Friends. And guess what? I also found the same sofa set as the one from the movie at a cool souvenir shop!
Another highlight of the tour was the display area for props, costumes, and documents from famous movies, particularly Harry Potter.
As a fashion enthusiast, I was impressed by the costumes in the gallery, which exuded a classic charm while still maintaining a trendy edge.
Although I don't usually watch heroic movies like Batman, I was impressed by the amazing costumes of the superheroes on display.
However, what I enjoyed the most were the exhibits related to Harry Potter. There was a room which filled with magic potions, was truly enchanting and made me wish that I was a witch.
Interestingly, I was placed into the Ravenclaw House by the Sorting Hat. I didn't even have to take any fun quizzes on the Internet to find out which House I belong to, it was the Hat who said so.
Because I forgot to film the moment when the Sorting Hat sorted me into the Ravenclaw House, so I posted the photo that Ms.K took for me with the three main characters' handprints in Harry Potter instead. So sorry!!!
I had a great day at the Warner Bros Studio, where I could take a photo with the iconic sofa from the TV show Friends and "officially" became a member of the Ravenclaw House from the Harry Potter movies. To those who are fans of Warner Bros, if you have a chance to visit Los Angeles, do not hesitate to come here, or else you will cry emotionally just like what my teacher (Mr.O) did when he met his favorite character Mario.
Talking about my trip to the USA, there are numerous memorable experiences that come to mind that I would like to share. But what was surprising and new for me was the first time I went shopping with my FRIENDS, but not FAMILY. At first, I was pretty sad that most of the students in my camp chose to go to the mall, which was my least favorite place in the schedule. Nevertheless, it turned out to be the most memorable trip I've ever had.
The mall we went to that day is the largest outdoor shopping mall in the world called Ala Moana. When I first entered the mall, I didn't think it was as big as people say. However, after walking around and getting lost, I finally understood why it had earned its reputation. I looked around and went through several shops. The mall offers a variety of options, including fashion stores, milk tea shops, and toy stores. There was also a game zone where I, for the first time, played a motorcycle racing game. I don't know how and why I kept falling during the race, but I still ranked the second place.
However, what surprised me the most was the moment I suddenly received a gift from the Annabel Team (consisting of Jisoo, Thi, me, and Warren). When I first entered the toy store, I was extremely amazed since they were selling toys from Tokidoki which is one of my favorite toy brands. However, for some personal reason, I couldn’t buy it. When I came out of the store, I was confused that my friends gave me a box of Tokidoki toy out of the blue. At that time, I kept asking them whether they joked with me or not because Thi had mentioned buying something for her cousin. I was really shocked but secretly grateful to the Annabel Team.
After the mall trip that day, I spent time wondering about a beautiful friendship and couldn't help but think about all the times I had been betrayed by my friends. Despite this, I'm still open to others, and now I already have some truly wonderful buddies. I want to say thank you to everyone at summer camp, especially the members of the Annabel Team, for the unexpected present and an unforgettable trip.
