Bella Poarch is a Filipino-American social media personality and singer who became famous on TikTok. She gained worldwide attention in 2020 after one of her lip-sync videos went viral. Since then, she has built a large following and become a well-known internet celebrity.
Bella’s biggest accomplishment is starting a successful music career. In 2021, she released her first single, “Build a Bitch,” which became a huge hit and gained hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. She later released her debut EP, Dolls, and continued to grow as a singer and entertainer.
Bella Poarch has built a career across music, fashion, and digital culture. From her rise as a global social media personality to becoming a recording artist, she has continuously found new ways to express herself. What makes Bella particularly interesting is her ability to use her platform to speak about personal experiences, identity, vulnerability, and resilience while connecting with a global audience.
MY ROLE
My role in the project included art direction, conducting the social media video interview, and editing the final video. I worked across the different stages of the project to make sure the visual identity and storytelling felt connected. My focus was on creating a piece that felt intimate and authentic while presenting Bella in a way that felt fresh and different from her usual social media presence.
ART DIRECTION
The editorial was conceived as a Gucci special, with Gucci playing an important role in defining the visual language of the story. The art direction was inspired by the legacy of Filipino women from the 1940s and 1950s who began challenging traditional roles during a period of social change in the Philippines. We wanted to reinterpret this history through a contemporary fashion lens, balancing strength with softness.

THE TEAM
The project was brought together by a strong multidisciplinary team, led visually by photographer Dennis Leupold, one of the most recognised names in contemporary fashion photography, whose portfolio includes major artists such as Rihanna, Scarlet Johansson, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez, between others. His distinctive approach to portraiture brought a strong sense of character and presence to the story.
Oretta Corbelli, as stylist, played an equally important role in translating the concept into a contemporary fashion narrative, creating a wardrobe that balanced historical references with the modern identity of Bella and the Gucci special. Together with the beauty, production, photography, and digital teams, their contributions helped create a cohesive story where fashion, culture, music, and personal identity could exist within the same visual world.

VIDEO INTERVIEW
For the video interview, the questions were carefully developed to show a different side of Bella. Instead of focusing only on her career and success, the conversation explored her relationship with music, personal experiences, vulnerability, and healing. The intention was to create a more honest and personal conversation, allowing Bella to speak openly and giving the audience a different perspective on who she is as an artist and as a person.
