In order to determine if you have met the objectives of this course, we need to measure your success by calculating your course grade. Our course is designed to offer opportunities for collaboration, productive struggle, and practice that put you on a path to success. If you want to meet your goals, which hopefully include passing this course, you need to be aware of how your grade will be calculated.
Units in RealizeIt (35%): Units in RealizeIt will contain:
Preparation Exercises - which count for 25% of each unit grade
Collaboration Sessions - which count for 50% of each unit grade
Exercises - which count for 25% of each unit grade
Notes:
Some units will also contain surveys or mindset activities. These do not count for a grade, but must be done to help you stay on the path to success.
While in your collaboration sessions, do not worry so much about your answers being right or wrong. Your grade will not be based on your answer submissions/correctness but rather on the following criteria. Did each student:
a) Contribute and work with others as a strong team member.
b) Listen to others, offer suggestions, and show encouragement.
c) Put forth good effort and show strategies for working effectively through problems.
d) Answer the questions at the end of the session to summarize what occurred.
Module Exams (33%): There will be three Module Exams. Each Module Exam will be worth 11%.
Quizzes (12%): There will be approximately 8 - 10 quizzes given throughout the semester. Some quizzes will cover just a few units (lessons or topics), while other quizzes (Module Checkpoint Quizzes) will have a wider range of problems and will be at the end of a module to help you prepare for an upcoming exam. I will drop the lowest quiz at the end of the semester.
Final Exam (20%): The final exam will be based upon the material presented during the entire course. There are no exemptions to the final. The final exam demonstrates your ability to recall and utilize the general concepts of the course, therefore you should take time to prepare for this exam and take it seriously. The date and time for the final exam will be announced as the time draws nearer.
Modules Exams, Quizzes, and the Final Exam will be given in BlackBoard and will be accessible in the Course Content folder for the current week. While taking these assessment items in BlackBoard, please note that I will be using Respondus, which is an online proctoring tool. It utilizes a webcam monitor to detect unusual behavior and a lockdown browser so that you cannot access sources online.
A = 93 – 100% A- = 90 – 92% B+ = 87 – 89%
B = 83 – 86% B- = 80 – 82% C+ = 77 – 79%
C = 73 – 76% C- = 70 – 72% D+ = 67 – 69%
D = 60 – 66% F = 0 – 59%
To help reduce that stress and improve the likelihood of completing the activities in our course successfully:
