Create Custom Sets for Activities!
(LingoLab Study/Quiz/Live, or Live Bingo or Match Games)
(LingoLab Study/Quiz/Live, or Live Bingo or Match Games)
Custom sets can be created and managed at LingoLabOnline, on the 'Create Set' tab. All created sets are listed here and can be imported into quizzes or live activities (LingoLabLive/LingoBingo/LingoMatch) using the ID number, entered at the prompt after 'List Selection' > 'Import Custom Set'. They can also be opened up directly as LingoLabCo activities with the green play button.
You need to input text for at least one 'Answer' and 'Question' to make a set (pictures are optional). If you just want to have a term and picture, just enter a space in the definition field.
You can just type in your questions and answers (with tab-separated fields), or copy and paste data from a spreadsheet or 'exported' Quizlet set. N.B. Sets can be edited at a later stage, but the number of items must remain the same, so as not to disturb the record-tracking of users currently using the set.
Pictures can be used in the LingoLab activities and in the LingoBingo live game (just not in LingoMatch).
Pictures can be included in custom sets in several ways. The simplest way is to first make the set without images, and then from open it to 'Edit'. Just click on the blank image entry for the item that you wish to add an image to, and a search of the returns open-source images from www.pixabay.com based on the 'Answer' text. Just click on any image that you like to add it.
However, if you have specific images that you want to use, you can input direct links to where the images are hosted - N.B. actual images cannot be uploaded and stored at this stage.
Here are several ways to get/make direct links:
You can easily copy image links from any webpage (e.g Quizlet) when using the Chrome browser by right-clicking on an image and selecting 'Get image address'.
You can use a Chrome add-on called 'Image Link Grabber' which copies all image links on a page in one click. (it's perhaps easiest to then paste these links into a spreadsheet that has your term & definition data, and then copy paste it all to the LingoLab custom set maker.)
If you already have a specific set of downloaded images that you want to use, upload them to an image-hosting site, like DropBox or the nice free site https://imgbb.com/, which lets you copy all image links from a folder. Hosting your own images like this ensures that the image you include in a set is not deleted, which is a risk with using external URL links. N.B. Images on Google Drive can't be linked to, unfortunately!
