In Fall of 2023, I took my favorite class of all, Chronic and Long-Term Care Administration. This class was another elective, but quickly became my favorite class. It led me to my passion and what I wanted to work in after graduation. I realized that this would be the environment I would thrive in, and that I had a passion for Long-Term Care, and before taking this class, I never knew that it was an option with my degree. At the beginning of the fall semester, I knew what I did not want to do after graduation, but I still couldn't figure out what I did want to do. During this class, I quickly learned that I had found my career path. I immediately started looking into AIT programs in Indiana, and began shadowing Nursing Home Administrators. I am very happy that I chose this elective because without it, I may not have ever discovered the passion I have for Long-Term Care.
In 2021, I took a class called Appreciation of Literature. I have never been one that enjoyed reading, and when I chose this class it was just an elective. I didn't know everything I was going to learn in the class. This class ended up allowing me to learn so much more about myself, and allowed me to be a better student. My professor, Jason Aukerman, really pushed me to be a better student. I have always been a good student, with a high GPA, and coursework came easy to me. I thought this class would be the same way, however that was not the case. Linked below is my final reflection paper that I wrote for this class, and it dives more into how much I learned in his class!
