Psychoeducational and Psychological

Evaluations

A psychoeducational evaluation focuses mainly on cognitive and academic functioning, with brief assessments of psychosocial functioning as well. A psychoeducational evaluation is generally provided in order to diagnose a specific learning disability and help with educational planning. It is typically 4-6 hours of face-to-face testing, in addition to initial intake, review of records and collateral information, feedback, and written report. See more about the process here.

A psychological evaluation focuses mainly on social, emotional, behavioral, and executive functioning. These types of evaluations can be helpful for diagnosis of ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other mental health concerns, such as anxiety or depression. It typically includes an initial intake session with parents/guardians, interview with child or adolescent, review of records, completion of rating forms, feedback, and written report or brief letter.
