Be Informed!
As the Washington Post says, "democracy dies in the dark." We're here to shed light on important issues as a service for all Lincoln residents so that they can make informed decisions.
Read summaries of important meetings and hear perspectives of fellow residents on proposed rezoning in Lincoln so that you can receive balanced information and be prepared to make up your own mind on consequential changes to be voted on at Town Meeting on Saturday, March 23.
Lincolnites struggle to find reliable, respectful forums to get information and exchange ideas. LincolnTalk can be off-putting at times. Lincoln no longer has a print newspaper. The Lincoln Squirrel provides a valuable, online news service to the town. But bias in reporting is unavoidable.
And to be clear, this website wants to be transparent about its own bias:
We support thoughtful rezoning and development to comply with the HCA mandate.
We raise pragmatic concerns and ask practical questions which we feel everyone should have answers to before voting.
We feel it is not responsible to map out the future of our town by relying on slogans, popularity contests, blind loyalty, length of time a topic has been discussed, peer pressure, and broad general studies that have not been scrutinized in the context of our unique town to decide how to vote on this consequential decision.
We are a collective of citizen activists who seek to hold town leadership accountable for actions, words, and choices.
We have studied the issues AND we seek to educate the public on them without trying to strategically withhold information to our advantage.
All Lincoln residents deserve to fully understand what they are signing onto regarding the HCA, and we seek answers to practical questions with potentially big implications.
