At Lil’ Star Siberians, we believe every breeding cat deserves to live a full, enriched life as a cherished family companion—not confined, isolated, or treated simply as part of a breeding program.
Our Guardian Program makes this possible by allowing carefully selected families to provide loving forever homes for our exceptional Siberians while helping us raise the next generation of kittens.
What Is a Guardian Home?
A guardian home is a special arrangement where a breeding-quality Siberian cat or kitten lives with a family as their personal pet while remaining part of our breeding program for a limited number of years.
Guardians purchase their cat at our regular pet price, as she is their forever companion. In return for helping raise her kittens, guardians receive compensation for each litter, which can help offset their initial investment and recognize the time and care involved.
We work closely with our guardians throughout the entire process, providing education, supplies, guidance, and ongoing support.
We primarily seek guardian families located within 30 minutes of St. George, Utah. However, we’re also open to families in the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas areas who are willing to travel when needed for breeding arrangements. This may include bringing your female to us or coordinating transportation for planned pairings. Flexibility and reliable communication are essential to making these long distance partnerships successful.
Your Role as a Guardian
Your most important responsibility is providing a safe, stable, loving home where your Siberian can thrive.
As a guardian, you’ll be responsible for:
● Daily care: Providing quality nutrition, grooming, enrichment, routine veterinary care, and everyday pet expenses.
● Safe living environment: Keeping your cat strictly indoors or within a secure catio. Free roaming is never permitted.
● Communication: Staying in regular contact, responding to messages within approximately 12–24 hours, and notifying us when your female begins a heat cycle.
● Breeding coordination: Making your female available for planned pairings and allowing scheduled visits when needed.
● Pregnancy and birth: Preparing a quiet, safe space, monitoring your female throughout pregnancy, and being present and prepared to assist during delivery.
● Kitten care: Monitoring newborns, recording daily weights, maintaining a clean environment, and helping raise and socialize the kittens until approximately 11-12 weeks of age.
● Regular updates: Providing weekly photos and videos so we can monitor development and share updates with future kitten families.
● Following program guidelines: Maintaining our nutrition, health, safety, and kitten-care standards.
Raising kittens is a wonderful experience, but it also requires time, flexibility, patience, and a genuine commitment to their well-being.
My Role as the Breeder
While guardians provide the loving home and hands-on kitten care, Lil’ Star Siberians assumes the primary financial investment, business management, breeding decisions, and long-term responsibility for the program.
My responsibilities include:
● Breeding cats and bloodlines: Investing in exceptional Siberians, breeding rights, imported bloodlines, and the careful development of future generations.
● Health and genetics: Arranging genetic testing, health screenings, and evaluating potential breeding cats.
● Breeding decisions: Researching pedigrees, selecting compatible pairings, managing breeding schedules, and making decisions that prioritize health, temperament, and genetic diversity.
● Veterinary and breeding expenses: Covering breeding-related veterinary care, pregnancy-related medical needs, and kitten veterinary expenses, including unexpected emergencies such as C-sections.
● Stud management: Providing and maintaining appropriate housing, enrichment, veterinary care, and ongoing management for our breeding males, including the additional facilities and expenses required to safely keep intact studs.
● Kitten placements: Managing inquiries, applications, waitlists, contracts, payments, family screening, and matching each kitten with the right home.
● Marketing and business operations: Maintaining our website, social media, advertising, customer relationships, recordkeeping, registrations, and the ongoing costs of operating the cattery.
● Education and support: Providing guardian training, birthing and kitten-care supplies, ongoing guidance, and support throughout pregnancy, delivery, and kitten raising.
● Long-term responsibility: Standing behind our kittens through our health guarantee and providing ongoing support to their families long after they leave our care.
These responsibilities continue year-round, whether or not a particular female is pregnant or producing kittens.
Understanding Our Partnership & Compensation
Our Guardian Program is a partnership, but it is not a 50/50 business partnership.
Both roles are essential, but the responsibilities, financial commitments, and risks are very different.
Guardians contribute something incredibly valuable: a loving family environment and the hands-on care involved in raising healthy, well-socialized kittens.
As the breeder, I carry the much larger financial investment, the ongoing operational expenses, the responsibility for breeding decisions, and the financial risks associated with pregnancy, veterinary emergencies, kitten placements, and our health guarantee.
There are also years of planning, experience, relationship-building, and investment behind every successful litter.
Guardian compensation is therefore based on the important care and services guardians provide—not a percentage of kitten sales or the overall revenue of the cattery.
This structure allows guardians to enjoy the rewarding experience of raising kittens and receive meaningful compensation without taking on the financial risks and extensive responsibilities of operating a breeding business.
It also allows me to maintain the high standards of care, health testing, individual attention, and lifelong support that define Lil’ Star Siberians.
Guardian Compensation
Guardians are compensated per litter based on the number of healthy kittens born.
For example:
• 3 kittens → $2,700
• 4 kittens → $3,500
• 5 kittens → $4,000
• 6 kittens → $4,500
Compensation recognizes the time, commitment, and hands-on care involved in raising a litter and can help offset the original purchase price of your Siberian.
The full compensation terms, including eligibility and payment timing, are outlined in our Guardian Agreement.
Supplies & Support We Provide
I want every guardian to feel prepared and confident, especially when welcoming their first litter.
Lil’ Star Siberians provides an initial supply kit that includes:
Birthing & Nesting Supplies
● Queening box or birthing cave
● Waterproof pads
● Heating pad
Newborn Kitten Care
● Digital scale
● Kitten formula
● Feeding bottles and syringes
● Calcium and colostrum supplements
● Bulb syringe
Starter Essentials
● Approximately 20 lbs of raw food
● Kitten-safe litter
● Small kitten litter box
Many of the newborn-care supplies are precautionary, but having them ready can make a tremendous difference if assistance is needed.
Reusable supplies remain the property of Lil’ Star Siberians and are returned when no longer needed or at the end of the program.
Food, litter, and other consumables are provided initially, with guardians responsible for replenishing these supplies as needed.
You’ll also receive ongoing education, guidance, and direct support from me throughout the process.
One of the things that makes our Guardian Program special is the education and support you’ll receive along the way.
I’ve created a private Instagram account exclusively for our guardian families, featuring a growing library of educational videos, helpful tips, and step-by-step guidance covering everything from preparing for pregnancy and birth to newborn kitten care, development, socialization, and more.
This resource allows you to learn at your own pace, revisit important information whenever needed, and feel confident and prepared throughout each stage of the experience.
Of course, I’m always just a message or phone call away whenever you have questions or need additional support.

The Gift of Becoming a Guardian
Being a guardian offers something truly special: the opportunity to welcome an exceptional Siberian into your family while experiencing the incredible journey of raising kittens.
You’ll witness their first breaths, watch their personalities develop, help them grow into confident little companions, and know that you’ve played an important role in bringing joy to their future families.
It’s a meaningful experience, but it’s also a serious commitment that requires dedication, communication, and a willingness to put the needs of your cat and her kittens first.
Our program is best suited for families who genuinely love cats, enjoy caring for animals, have the time and flexibility to raise kittens, and appreciate being part of a thoughtfully managed breeding program.
