L.I.F.T CIC was established to address a simple but significant barrier: limited access to effective English language education can restrict a person's ability to study, work, access services and participate fully in their community.
We exist to help remove that barrier.
Our work combines English language education with practical support for education, employment, integration and everyday life.
Our mission is to advance education and promote social integration by making high-quality English language learning more accessible to people experiencing disadvantage.
We believe language learning is about more than grammar and vocabulary.
It's being able to speak to your child's teacher.
It's understanding a healthcare appointment.
It's applying for a job with confidence.
It's participating in university life.
It's feeling able to contribute to your community.
L.I.F.T operates as a Community Interest Company (CIC).
Our primary purpose is community benefit rather than profit maximisation.
Income from our fee-paying services helps support subsidised and free provision for people experiencing financial or social disadvantage.
Any surplus is reinvested into our programmes and community activities in accordance with our community purpose and the requirements applicable to CICs.
We operate primarily in Herefordshire, with scope to work in neighbouring counties.
Our programmes may be delivered through:
Community venues
Educational partnerships
Online learning
Hybrid programmes
Community-based initiatives
This flexible approach helps reduce geographical, financial and practical barriers to learning.
