AUTHOR GUIDELINES AND ADVICEĀ
Below you will find an outline of the format for the book panel session and approximate timing for each component. We ask you to please stay within the time allotted to ensure all sessions run on time.
Format:
5 Minutes: Author
Authors are asked to briefly outline the central thesis of their book. What as the motivation for writing the book; was there a specific philosophical problem or gap in the literature that you were trying to address, or what contribution does it make?
10 Minutes: Respondent
Respondents are asked to provide a response to the book in the form of an overview of the main arguments the book or those arguments they find most convincing. Other aspects to consider: What do you think the book does/does not contribute to the field? What are the most interesting or unique features of the book; are there any challenges or aspects that might be developed further or addressed; are there any gaps or areas for further discussion?
5 minutes: Author right of reply
Authors may reply to key arguments or points or points made by the respondent.
10 minutes: Open to audience for discussion and questions
