Welcome note by the Librarian

I welcome all students to JNV Library and to wish you a happy and successful new academic year. My staff and I will be glad to help you all to gain maximum benefit from using the Library, So I hope that if anyone has problem in searching for a book which you need or in using an electronic database can come and ask me about it.

Like the school itself, the Library is fairly new and is still growing. Its physical bookstock has increased rapidly during the previous years and we also provide access to over 7500 titles and 46 magazines. It had been much more growth and development during your time in the school, including the opening of a state-of-the-art new career corner 2011/2012. The Library’s books are organized subject-wise on the shelves and you’ll soon find your way around it. If you look up a book in our opec catalogue you will be told its classification number (we use the Dewey Decimal scheme in which all books have a three digit number such as 542 or 689, usually followed by a decimal point and further numbers to indicate their subject).

As well as printed books and journals the Library subscribes to a growing number of websites. I would be glad to help you to identify and use the e-resources that you need for your studies and orientation will be held regularly on how to use the library most effectively. Such orientation will be timetabled as part of your study programme and it will help you to succeed in your course if you attend.

We look forward to meeting you in the library very soon.
