How can I check my student's grades?
Go to https://kscloud1.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/lyons.jsp, log in with your credentails to access grades and schedules. If you don't know your log in information, please reach out to the secretaries.
How can I change my student's schedule?
Email cfarmer@usd405.com to request a schedule change. Please include which class you hope to change, what you hope to change it to, and why. Not all requests will be filled. No schedule changes will be made after September 2nd.
Is there a discount for college classes?
Yes, the Boost Scholarship is available for Rice County high school students who qualify for free and reduced lunch and are taking classes through Barton. This scholarship covers tuition for one 3 credit hour course.
How can you help my student stay on track towards graduation?
The counselor tracks student progress toward graduation and advises students on the necessary courses they have yet to complete. The counselor can also help arrange a check in/check out process, walk the student through using an agenda, or share study and motivation tips.

Does my student have to leave the building to receive mental health services?
No, the counselor is able to provide some counseling services within the school day. More demanding needs are often best met by an outside counselor with a smaller caseload than a school counselor has.

The counselor can help parents and families get connected to community resources.
What services are available for cyber-bullying?
TBD- I would like to set up an anonymous tip line but need to look further into the best way to do this.

As counseling generally involves a small number of people, students may be able to continue to come into the school building for individual counseling regardless of the school being online/hybrid/in person.
I intend on doing as much of my student meetings outside as possible in an effort to limit time in shared spaces.

When are college applications usually due?
It depends! There are usually a number of deadlines which vary based on how sure you are that you want to go to that particular school, how competitive that school is, etc. Applications open as early as the fall and some school have what is called rolling addmissions which means they accept application all the time!

What training/field expereinces are avaialable to my student?
This year is a bit unique. Due to COVID, all school organized experince opportunities will take place within the school to avoid potential exposure with the exception of necessary expereinces as required by Barton courses (clinicals for CNA).
What career exploration occurs at LHS?
The career fair this year has been postponed. Virtual opportunities will be shared as they become available.
