In the UK, CID (Criminal Investigation Department) is a division of the police force responsible for investigating serious crimes such as theft, assault, kidnappings and murder. Unlike uniformed officers, CID officers usually wear plain clothes to blend into the day to day activities. As part of CID, you'll engage in a variety of tasks including interviewing witnesses and suspects, analyzing evidence and conducting surviellence. You will be tested on your critical thinking, problem solving abilities and teamwork skills. Every lead is pivotal if you want to get to the bottom of a case.

If you are pulled over, allow the officer to carry out the traffic stop as normal before identifying yourself
You must not commit crimes whilst covert, do what you need to do to blend in such as attend meetings, locations, be on scene of a crime (if necessary) but you must not actively be involved in the crime.
If arrested, follow the same procedure as a traffic stop and allow the officer to carry out the arrest, before asking to be taken to an interview room to identify yourself

Unlike uniformed officers, detectives typically don't wear a police uniform and instead work in plain clothes. They focus on solving crimes rather than routine patrolling or responding to incidents.

Robbery
Fraud
Drug trafficking
Detectives are not required to wear a uniform, you may wear plain clothes for day to day policing but these must be suitable. When engaging in every day police work and attending crime scenes, you must be wearing a police lanyard to be able to identify yourself.
As a CID officer, you are still representing the police force, so you must be respectful in what you wear, you should not wear the following:
Tracksuits
Ripped Jeans
T-shirts with inappropriate imaging or slogans
Flip-flops or unsuitable shoes
The only circumstances these clothes may be worn is when a CID officer goes "covert"
