The LGO Alumni Leadership Program is a continuation of LGO’s Leadership coursework, offering ongoing learning among alumni. We aim to bring together people across classes to share experiences and solve work challenges.
For 2026, the Alumni Leadership program format is updated to deepen cross-class sharing and collaborative learning. In alumni-led, peer-to-peer sessions, we’ll tackle issues in a discussion format, rather than presentation style.
Each session will focus on a key topic, and will include a featured speaker who has experience to share — challenges tackled, mistakes made, and lessons learned. Participants can submit questions and their own stories ahead of time, or bring them up during the session. Moderators will help keep the conversation flowing. Everyone can contribute, or listen and absorb.
There will be three sessions for the year:
April, June/July, Sept/Oct
April 16th at 7pm ET
In your working life you come up against a wide range of challenges. You’re hired into a dream job that you find isn’t so dreamy. Market forces pummel your company’s business model. Suddenly there’s a pandemic and your company is on the front line. What do you do?
Jeff Alcalde, LGO ‘97, had seen his share of it, and he’s here to talk about it. From working at the world’s largest aluminum rolling mill, to being a direct line supervisor at a plant going through closure, to accepting a job and having the job location change under him, he’s navigated the shifts of large company operations. Since then, he has moved into managing a smaller organization and then owning it, only for that company to be on the hot seat for COVID response. He has stories to tell.
Join in on a fireside chat with Jeff and your fellow alumni. Let’s dig into how to handle the tricky situations that there’s almost no way to prepare for.
There may not be enough time to cover all of Jeff's 29 years' worth of stories, so please let us know on your registration form what topics you are most interested in, and we will be sure to include them.
