About the Alumni Leadership Program
About the Alumni Leadership Program
While at MIT, we had access to a myriad of courses that covered a wide range of topics on leadership, management, and organizational strategy. After graduation, many of us find it difficult to translate what we learned into real-world application. You might have even found yourself thinking, I wish I had a playbook for this, or now that I have experience with this, I'd like to go back and learn it again.
Many companies, such as Apple, Intel, Amgen, and Boeing, have robust employee training programs on leadership and management. Inspired by these programs, the MIT curricula, and the desire to pursue our own further leadership education, a group of LGO alumni came together to develop an Alumni Leadership Program that expands these opportunities to advance our education and careers.
The value proposition of such a program is that it taps our extensive alumni network to provide continuous learning uniquely tailored to LGOs:
Supply and Demand - Many LGO alumni in the trailing years of their career are looking to give back and share their experiences, while more recent grads are interested in getting advice and guidance on their leadership journey.
Credibility and Relevancy - Our common educational backgrounds, interests, fields of work, and experiences create a shared foundation uniquely relevant to fellow alumni.
Authenticity and Community - The close bond and common experience among LGOs provides a support network and a safe environment for authentic leadership sharing and coaching.
This leadership program has been developed through the activities of the LGO Alumni Board's Alumni Learning Committee. The mission of the Committee is to provide opportunities for mentorship, inter-class knowledge exchange, and continuous learning on topics of common interest to our alumni.
