Our social media project was about Pilar Bataan, one of the oldest and most well known towns in Bataan. In this project, I worked with 4 of my reliable and fun friends as we personally venture to Pilar to better encapsulate information and our own feelings/understandings of the city. In this project, we wanted to explore the history and present state of three well known attractions, which are: Pilar’s Espada, The Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar (also known as “Our Lady of the Pillar church”), and Mt. Samat.
To get physical work started, we set up a particular date to meet up with one another to explore the attractions of Pilar Bataan and to better understand its history. Once we arrived at our destination, we made our way to the closest attraction to us, the flaming sword of Bataan, Espada. Our goal was to get as much shots and recordings of the areas to be used for voiceovers in the actual video, so I, the camera man, got to work 😎. Using the many different angles provided to me, I got us several varied recordings that are all different and showcase the beauty of Pilar's Espada.
On to the second location, Our Lady of the Pillar church! Using some of our budget, we managed to commute our way to this wonderful church. Unfortunately when we got there, it was closed, so the recordings I got for this portion of our project were outside shots that only showcased the outside structure of the building. Nevertheless, we still got what we came for, and it was an amazing experience to be able to revisit this church of Pilar Bataan.
With the help of Andrei's father, we were able to get to our final and most awaited destination... Mt. Samat Memorial Shrine! Being able to go here once more was one of the most enjoyable things I've done this year. Not only did I get to buy souvenir, hangout with my friends, and revisit places I haven't been to in years, but I also got to learn so much about these places. Did you know that the height of the white cross is 92 meters, referencing how the Battle of Bataan lasted 92 days? During our time at Mt. Samat, we got so much pictures and shots while also having a tour guide that just kept feeding us valuable information about the location.
For this tedious project, I was grouped up with my reliable pals, Tyrus Ursolum, Danjoe Pajarin, and Andrei Epondolan! With us working together, this project was bound to be a success.
