Online Platforms

Online platforms are collections of technology intended for usage together as a foundation upon which additional technologies, procedures, or applications that improve the quality of life are created.

The 6 types of Online platforms are Presentation/Visualization, Cloud Computing, Social Media, Web Page Creation, File Management, and Mapping.

The 3 types of Online platforms that I'll be showcasing are the platforms that I've been using the most recently, as I want to appreciate their purpose and capabilities.

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is the method of storing, managing, and processing data over an internet-hosted network of distant servers as opposed to a local server or personal computer. Cloud computing is an overall wonderful tool that offers several benefits, such as scalability, cost efficiency, accessibility, etc. Cloud computing allows for better collaborations because it allows you to access the data from anywhere, anytime.

I personally only use 1 Cloud computing application which is well known for its services and accessibility. Google Drive is a popular platform that millions use to store data on. The platform allows users to easily store data that other users can easily edit and download. What I personally love about Google Drive is that it retains the crisp quality of images stored into it. In essence, Google drive provides us with so much abilities on their site, has hundreds of GB in storage, and is flexible for everything regarding data and resources.

Social Media

Social media are platforms and tools that enable individuals, businesses and other groups to produce, distribute, or trade knowledge, professional interests, concepts, images, and videos in online networks and communities. Social media creates and strengthens communities that utilize these platforms to share and spread their interests and influence. Social media is well known because it allows users to discover new topics, meet new people, share daily doses of their life, communicate with the world, create content, use the platform professionally, and so much more.

Some of the most well known social media platforms that I also indulge myself in are: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. My personal favorite, Instagram, is great platform with numerous purposes and capabilities. I mainly use Instagram to scroll through entertaining videos, looking at interesting topics, going through knowledgeable posts, appreciating the post's of those I know, sharing hilarious videos, and sharing a bit of my life from time to time too.

Web Page Creation

A lot of crucial components are included in web page creation, such as color, layout, and overall graphical style. Web page creation is a crucial online platform that is one of the building foundations of businesses. Creating a website is essential for establishing reliability, drawing in visitors, standing out from the competition, and eventually promoting business expansion. It is a versatile instrument that influences a website's aesthetic appeal as well as the user experience and ultimate success of the business. Web page creation platforms allow for easy website creations while still leaving room for variety in each site.

Recently, I've checked out a lot of web page creation applications to use for my project; The ones that were recommended to me were Wix, GoDaddy, Weebly, Squarespace, and Google sites. I settled on Google sites for a number of reasons: Google sites did not overwhelm me and was relatively easy to understand and use, it has a large community that helped you with things you didn't understand, and it provided many options and templates that gave you an idea of how your site would look like. So far, my experience with Google sites has been a blast, and this definitely won't be the last time I'll be using this platform.
