We're making good progress with the cemetery update project to improve the grounds and place a memory garden on the grounds. Here's a few details you can comment on and parts of the project that can accept memorials for your loved ones.
The Memory Garden is moving forward with the Memory Garden planned for where the directory currently is, on the west fence of the grounds at the end of the car lane. South of the current directory there will be a flower garden, we expect blooms by spring of 2022. Next to the flower garden, north of the current directory, will be an area with benches and pavers, and there will be a pergola erected above the seating area. Planning and design work continues on both the flower and memory garden areas, we'll post drawings here when we have them. We plan to begin construction on the Memory Garden this fall and be completed by spring of 2022.
The Memory Garden will have four benches, three of them already have memorial donations. If you'd like to donate a memorial bench send an email to us at lewistonnebraskacemetery@gmail.com. The Memory Garden will also have pavers and you can buy a paver for dedication, send us an email with your interest and we'll get back to you. Pavers will be engraved with your desired family name or memorial message. You can also donate to the flower garden. When we have the complete plan for the Memory Garden we'll have more details on how many pavers will be available but it might be good not to wait to let us know your interest.
The scrub trees on the east fence of the cemetery grounds will be removed in the next few weeks, cleaning up that part of the grounds. We also intend to widen the entry gate off the highway while keeping the arch sign (today's pickup trucks are wider than those of yesteryear).
