Buy used!
You can reduce impacts by buying used clothing items. According to the World Wildlife Fund, "it can take 2,700 liters of water to produce the cotton needed to make a single T-shirt." If you buy a used clothing item, it will get more use, which means the water goes further.
You can buy used clothing items from online marketplaces like Poshmark, ThredUp, Depop, and others.
Things to look for when shopping clothing items:
Made of recycled materials, fair trade, donates to charity, material not falling apart or cheaply made.
