The Department of Communication at Florida International University, in Miami, Florida, and the Department of Advertising, Public Relations, and Audiovisual Communication at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, in Barcelona, Spain, welcome you to our COIL experience where global minds can meet, interact, and collaborate. As the world changes quickly, global learning is essential. Global learning can help students develop academically, socially, and emotionally in all facets of their lives. People from different backgrounds work together to address issues and find solutions while interacting with one another, bridging divergent viewpoints, and addressing global concerns. People who learn about the world will become more sensitive and open-minded; they will be better able to think critically about problems and find inclusive solutions.

Students from Prof. Albena Petrus and Prof. Ph.D. David Roca will synergistically work on collaborative activities for four weeks exploring alcohol counter-advertising. They will use data, research, and creativity to design counter-advertising to raise knowledge of alcohol's harmful effects and its link to cancer and to create awareness of consumption limits among college students.
