Coaching Experience

Chris has coached the Big League 16-18 year old program, Lethbridge Giants, formerly known as the Southern Alberta Giants, for 16 years. They have won prairies 10 times and have been to nationals 10 times. In 2011 they won Nationals for the 1st time beating the Maritimes, in the finals. It was the first time since 1982 that a Lethbridge team represented Canada at the Big League World Series. They beat Asia pacific (Philippines) at the World Series in Easley South Carolina. The 2011 team that Chris coached was inducted into the Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame. He also coached the Winston Churchill Bulldogs High school baseball team for 15 years. That team won provincials 4 times. Chris has also coached the Spitz Canadians 15 year old travel ball. They travelled to Chicago to compete in the CABA World series and played tournaments in Las Vegas and California. Chris has been coaching the Lethbridge Miners for the last three years and it was a dream of his to coach in the program that he played in. It’s been a great few years. Last year the Miners went back to the State tournament and had an unbelievable season as they went 40-12. Chris is  Looking forward to watching the Legion program have continued success in the future. 


Playing Career


Chris's playing career in Little League was with Lethbridge NORCREST. They won prairies when he played at the senior level, and then travelled to Nationals in Coquitlam BC. From ages 16-18, Chris played in the American Legion program as a outfielder and pitcher. When he was 16, he played with the Miners and as a 17 and 18 year old he played with the Elks. His second year playing with the Elks team, they went 21-3 in conference play but lost in state semi finals to Missoula, who became the eventual state champions. After his last year of playing with the Elks, Chris was offered a position on the North Dakota Junior College roster, and had a chance to play with the PBA (Prairie Baseball Academy) however due to an injury with his arm, he decided to retire from a "player" position and started to focus on his coaching career.
