There are different types of rocks that are formed differently whether they go through the metamorphotic, sedimentary, or igneous process. There are different types of rocks that are made out of different materials. Depending on the process they go through they can contain minerals or sediments. There can be two of the same type of rock, but they can have different benefits, risks, and process. There is coal that can be classified as either bituminous coal or anthracite coal.

Rock Type: It is an organic sedimentary rock. It is formed when erosion or weathering gathers sediments and compresses them together with pressure to form the rock.
What it can be used for?

Benefits:
provides more jobs for people
provides energy for things we use in the industry
not limited in supply
cheaper
Risk:
contributes to the acid rain
unhealthy to work with
releases toxic smoke in the environment
contains dirty materials because it did not get burned off since it did not go through the metamorphic process
it is a fire hazard because it can catch on fire easily
What is it made out of?
dead plants that got buried in the ground with lots of pressure and started to form into the bituminous coal

no grains are visible

Rock Type: It is a metamorphic rock. It is formed when a rock known as a parent rock, goes under heat and pressure which changes the chemical composition and physical properties.
What it can be used for?
used as fuel
heating systems
smelting
locomotives
Benefits:
it is cleaner because since it is getting put under heat and pressure, the dirty materials are getting burned off
provides more jobs for people
does not release as much toxic smoke into the air
higher flow of water
Risk:
more expensive
reduce the use of our energy
hazardous to the community and the health of the workers
What is it made out of?
parent rock is the bituminous coal
dead plants and other material that got buried and heat and pressure compressed them together to form the rock

glassy
fine grained
no minerals or crystals visible
