For this project, we were asked to create a mind map to understand the importance of hierarchy. Through creating the mind map, I learned the importance of organizing information in a way that is easy to understand and follow. I organized my information around one major goal: reaching my full potential. I then created four sections connected to that goal: education, physical health, mental health, and my environment. Each section included a set of three smaller goals that would lead to improvement in those areas.
I also learned the difference between working files and deliverable files. Drawio.com created a working file that I could return to and edit later, but to submit the assignment for grading, I had to export it as a PNG file. This made my final draft accessible and viewable for my professor.
In this unit, we also completed three trainings for Office Applications: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Through these trainings, I learned many new ways technology can make tasks easier and more organized, rather than more confusing.
In Word, I learned how to improve organization by utilizing features such as headings, subheadings, and bullet points. I also learned how to create a bibliography, insert a table of contents, and use the spelling and grammar check tools to review my work more efficiently.
In PowerPoint, I learned the difference between Presenter View and what the audience sees during a presentation. I also learned how to add speaker notes, use transitions and animations, and design slides that are more visually appealing and easier for an audience to follow.
Lastly, I was fascinated by all the different interpretations of data that Excel can create. Excel can take information entered into cells and use formulas and equations to calculate sums, averages, percentages, and differences automatically. I also learned how to create graphs and charts, organize data into tables, and use functions to analyze information more effectively.
