A private music lesson is a one on one, completely personal experience. Our teachers will work on exercises and music that will benefit the student at their level and pace. These are perfect for students that are just starting out and also the student that needs the guidance in practice to keep advancing to the next level. All our students start out with private lessons. After the teacher has agreed that the student is ready, they are encouraged to join a musical group. Private lessons should continue after the student begins a group class so that they get the help they need in learning the group repertoire and so their individual needs are met. Private lessons are available for every instrument offered at Lemont Music Academy.
Semi-private lessons are for groups of 2-3 students that are at a similar age or performance level. These are perfect for siblings or close friends. Learning an instrument with someone is always a fun way to make music a social experience. The teacher can also tailor the curriculum so that the students perform duets, trios etc. at our performances. These classes are also great for the advanced student that wants to learn other parts on their instrument or other instruments with another musician.
Groups of 4-6 students can enjoy a small group lesson that is tailored to the group of individual. These classes tailor the lesson time to creating an ensemble experience for the students and focus on how to be a productive member of a music group. Usually one person plays each part. Examples of these lessons are string quartet/quintet, Polish Highlander String band, rock band, wedding band etc. These lessons will typically last longer than one hour, however each group can specify how long they wish to rehearse for each week.
The best way to introduce music into your childs life is to take a lesson with them. Whether it is a very small child or teenager, this is the perfect way to connect with your child and create an experience that will draw you both closer. In the instance of the very young child (ages 4-8) the parents role in this type of lesson is to learn the information and become the teacher or practice partner at home. The lesson focuses on the parent more so as they gain the skills to reinforce things at home. With older children, this can become a co learning activity where the parent is learning along side the child and they create a musical duet together. This is also a great way to learn the instrument you have always wanted to learn while spending time with your child. The theme of these lessons is always FUN and SUCCESS every step of the way.
