Winter Road Maintenance [2024-01]
During the snow storm in early January, there was a number of complaints about the snow removal in the Leitchcroft community. This prompted the City of Markham to review the road classification and make the following changes:
South Park Road (From Highway 7 to Saddle Creek Drive) – Change from a Local to a Primary.
This is to facilitate the flow traffic into and out of the newer area of Condo and dense Residential, and to ensure consistency with the rest of South Park Road that is already designated as Primary.
Active Road (From South Park to Saddle Creek Drive) – Change from a Local to a Secondary.
This recommendation is to assist in allowing traffic to enter and exit the dense residential compounds in order to make their way out to South Park or Saddle Creek.
Leitchcroft Crescent (In it’s entirety from Pond Dr to Pond Dr) – Change from a Local to a Secondary.
This recommendation is to assist in allowing traffic in and out of the dense residential area including back laneways to private parking lots, etc.
More information about Winter Maintenance and Road Classification can be found on these websites: [Winter Road Services] [Snow Plowing].
Hwy 7 Pedestrian Crossing Timing [2024-01]
Some residents have reported that the pedestrian crossing timing across Hwy7 is at 20 seconds or less. This may not be long enough to cross the highway in a single crossing cycle.
If you have noticed any intersections with short crossing duration, please email the LCA and we can follow up with York Region Transportation.
Crosswalk Marking Request [2023-09]
The LCA has created 2 service requests with the City of Markham to add crosswalk signs and markings at the following intersection:
Saddlecreek Dr. & South Park Rd. [#961186]
Saddlecreek Dr. & Active Rd./Galleria Pkwy [#961187]
An all-way stop and crosswalk marking have been installed at Saddlecreek / Galleria intersection. The LCA will follow up on with the crosswalk marking at Saddlecreek / South Park Road.
